The Huts

Ahipara, Northland

Sleeps: 2 guests per cabin | Rates: $250 per/night

“Built high on the hilltop, overlooking a nook in the bay of the Shipwreck Bay, sit two cabins. One next to the other. The surrounding area divided between permaculture land and wild forrest. For any surfer or traveler, a dream. The views are spectacular and the place to rest your head, even better…”

About

The duel huts provide a refreshing take on what eco-living means and where we can expect to see sustainable living headed in years to come. Host Adam now works on The Huts full time, to ensure their guests can experience a getaway like no other. His efforts far from unnoticed, from the fresh and local produce placed on your doorstep each morning, down to the organic cotton bedsheets - every detail had been considered and everything had been thought through with the utmost attention and care. The act of their dedication to looking after Aotearoa is what makes this place a haven for all.

  • Breakfast Pantry. Local and organic produce provided to create your own morning meal at your own pace.

  • Natural Bedding. NZ made wooden frames, organic mattresses and bedding, unique throws.

  • Bathrooms. Black slate emulating the reef that flows around the points. Organic bath towels and handpicked soaps to wash away life before The Huts.

Travel Note

Ventured about half an hour around Shipwreck Bay's point to scope out the best local surf spot & spot wild horses roaming the coastline. Note: A tricky area to get to if not well versed in the terrain - but manageable with courage and determination. Along the way, drive past the infamous seaweed huts, a strip of homes that surfers and locals come to live in in the warmer months.
