The Nest 5 | Natty Wines
Whats better than a good glass of vino?… organic vino! We’ve rounded up some of our favourite local natty wine makers and suppliers and maybe drunk a few too many glasses and maybe should have begun writing this article sober. We’re rolling with it anyway.
Alpine Wine Co (Wanaka, NZ)
Hailing from Wanaka, Alpine Wine Co was birthed in 2018 out of a desire to push the boundaries in a typically conservative wine market. Their philosophy is centred around sourcing quality grapes, and where possible to ensure they are grown using organic viticultural practices. Using a process called Wild Fermentation, they get the most out of the grapes while letting them do their thing naturally.

2. Halcyon Wines (Hawkes Bay, NZ)
Amy & Olly Hopkinson-Styles bought Halcyon Wines into existence in 2018. Based in Hawkes Bay, this power house duo have managed to gain a dedicated following to their natural wines. You can apply to join their mailing list to get yourself a bottle or two (or three) through their instagram here
Give them a follow to make sure you’re kept up to date on where their bottles will be popping up next.
3. Unkel Wines (Nelson, NZ)
After 3 years producing Unkel in Victoria, Australia, Rob Burley and wife Kate moved back to New Zealand to start a family and live out their organic wine dreams.
In 2019, they were fortunate enough to make that dream come true with a now 4.9-hectare block on Bronte Peninsula, Nelson.
Unkle want you to think of them more like that cruisy, fun, slightly wild Uncle in your life. They pride themselves on working with Mother Nature to produce the best possible raw product, with the highest quality fruit they can offer.
All wines are organic with minimal sulfites added. Shop for a bottle here
