Photographer FAQs
Why should I book a photographer?
Think of this as a way to get a professionally curated and updated image gallery for your accomodation. Trust us, in a world of fast scrolling and short attention spans, an eye-catching image makes a world of difference. We’ve seen stays go from only weekend bookings to fully booked week nights using our imagery.
Are there any other benefits?
Yes, absolutley. All our photographed stays are prioritised when it comes to extra exposure. We’ll option you first for our popular city travel guides and you’ll be added to our PR list when magazines and blogs reach out to us to feature stays. We ensure you’re booking link will always be easily findable when promoting your stay.
Do I get a copy of the photos?
Yes. You’ll receive a minimum of 30 photos (3MB) of your stay. The photos package will contain external, internal and key feature shots.
Can I use the images on my website / Instagram / other marketing channel?
The photos can be used anywhere you like! We ask that if you’re posting the images on social media, you will have to credit Nest Journal by tagging in the post’s caption. See below.
Who are the photographers?
We will select a photographer to visit based on where you are located and what type of accomodation you have. If your stay type is for a romantic honeymoon, we’ll send a storyteller couple to get the best experience. Are you near a surf beach? We’ll send along someone who loves the waves. Its all about them getting the most out of their stay and experiencing the best of what is to offer.. and telling the story of course.
We have seven wonderful photographers that work with us to create your experience. Have a look at their profiles here.
What is required for the photographer visit?
The photographer will be booked in for a two night stay at your discretion. Confirmation on dates for their stay will be given within a week of your form submission. We understand that weekend bookings are critical for your stays income - so we only ask that off peak dates be offered.
Can I just offer a one night stay?
Unfortunately not. One night doesn’t allow enough time to allow the photographer to complete their assignment of shooting your listing and also spend time enjoying it, and explore the local area.
How much control do I have over the article content?
Creative control of the final published content belongs to the photographer. This includes image selection and the narrative they write. They’ve got a brief from us they need to follow so please refrain from giving them any additional instructions. Don’t worry though, our goal is to make your listing looks as amazing as possible and we’d never publish anything that shows it in a negative way.
